The color in Surya Henna Powder is a plant based formation (100% natural). The powder has to be mixed with water. On the other hand, Surya Henna Cream comes ready-to-use, no mixing necessary and the color is derived from mild synthetic dyes that are enriched with the organic extract of 15 herbs and plants used to treat and condition hair.

Henna Powders are 100% plant-based and contain Amla, an Indian fruit rich in vitamin C, Shikakai, native to India, the word means “fruit for the hair” and is a superior cleanser that supports hair growth; Terminalia Belerica which functions as an astringent and bactericide and Indigo which is known for it’s coloring properties.

Surya Brasil’s luscious Henna Cream texture is both rich and silky with a mild, pleasant scent. Easy to apply on clean hair, it requires no mixing and provides a sensation of intense care and comfort during coloring. Surya Henna Powder is available in a soft Ash Brown, a natural Brown with hints of red highlights, vibrant Burgundy, a buttery Golden Brown, a deep Mahogany, a true Red, a sweet Strawberry Blonde, a light Swedish Blonde and neutral, which is used for hair conditioning and does not contain color.

If you use Surya Brasil Henna Cream, only if you chose one of our shades of red, but we offer 15 shades of henna hair color- from the lightest of blondes to the deepest of browns and blacks. If you use Surya Henna Powder, which has a natural red base, you may have red tones in your new color, and golden ones as well.

Our henna should be applied to damp hair that is clean and free of styling product build-up. It is recommended that you shampoo before applying our henna colors. For best results, do not shampoo immediately after coloring.

It depends upon the length and thickness of your hair. Typically a full, thick head of long hair, hair down to your mid-back would require two –four boxes of Surya Henna Powder and one to one and a half bottles of Surya Henna Cream. Our henna cream is easy to apply and covers gray well. If you're worried, buy multiples – both products keep extremely well so you can use one bottle and start on the second, and then save the leftover color in a dark, dry place for the next time.

Yes, Surya Henna Creams and Powders were specifically designed to cover gray hair. If you have a higher percentage of gray (50%) or more, you may have to keep our henna on longer and apply more often.

Depending on how often you wash your hair and what you are washing your hair with (traditional brands will strip hair of color because they may contain sodium laurel sulfate). We recommend you shampoo with Surya Brasil Color Fixation Shampoo and Conditioner. Surya Henna Creams will typically last for seven to 12 shampoos and Surya Henna Powders for 20-30 shampoos.

Our hennas should be applied to freshly shampooed hair without using a conditioner.

Yes, you can use as much as you need and then store the remaining portion in a dark and cool place for up to one month. However, it is best to use the product within the next few days for optimal freshness and effectiveness.

Yes you can mix colors to create additional “dimension”. We strongly recommend for best results, that you try a strand test first and if you are not a professional colorist we recommend you seek assistance by calling our customer service toll-free line before mixing and applying to your hair.
