Summer is here and the heat came with it! Summer is that time of year everyone looks forward to. "Fun in the Sun" seems to be a common mantra but let's not forget how dangerous this weather can be as well. Surya Brasil would like to give you some tips on how to have fun AND stay healthy and safe this summer. Firstly for yourselves, and little ones, you want to be sure to apply sunscreen before going out. Some natural sunscreen ingredients are Raspberry Seed Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Almond Oil, and Zinc Oxide.
Along with protecting ourselves we MUST remember to look out for our pets as well. Below we have listed a few tips on keeping our four legged friends safe this summer.
NEVER leave you pet in a parked car - The temperature inside a car rapidly increases to dangerous levels very quickly. On an 85 degree day temperatures can reach 102 degrees within 10 minutes. Leaving your pet in there can cause irreversible organ damage.
Watch the humidity - Your pet pants to evaporate the moisture from their lungs which helps them cool themselves. If the humidity is high they are unable to do this making their temperature skyrocket.
Limit exercise on hot days - Yes, it is very important to walk your pet or play with them to get exercise daily; however on hot days you want to limit this for their safety and do it when the temperature is cooler. Remember, you are wearing shoes, they are not! Provide them with plenty of shade and water.
Remembering these tips can protect you and your loved ones. For more information on Protecting you Pet in the summer, check out the Humane Society's article here
